Executives at a U.S. publishing company has launched legal action against FOXY BROWN and LIL' KIM - accusatory the rappers of weakness to deliver books they were gainful to write.
Lawyers for Simon + Schuster Inc filed written document on Thursday (24Jul08) claiming Brown - real advert Inga Marchand - was paid $75,000 (GBP37,500) to return a book about her life, highborn Broken Silence, by February 2006.
Lil' Kim - real call Kimberly Jones - has been accused of pickings a $40,000 (GBP20,000) payment for a novel which was due for completion in June 2004.
After signing the word deals, both women were sent to prison. Jones was imprisoned for a year in 2005 for lying around a shot, and Brown spent eight months behind bars for violating her probation, stemming from a 2006 assault conviction. She was released in April (08).
The New York-based publishing fellowship is seeking remuneration for the gain payments which were awarded to the two artists.
